Band Rework

In order to make my Kamado more airtight (I have a small leak on one side of the gasket), I'm going to take Kamado.com's advice and do a band seat modification soon.

Complete instructions are at Band Rework Page

This page will show photos of the band reseating and adjustment process when I get around to it.

In the meantime, there seems to be a little confusion about clamping down the lid during band adjustment.  Hopefully the photo will clarify things.

The clamps allow you to tighten the springs down beyond the closed position... effectively taking the pressure off of the bands during adjustment.

They are also a safety measure in the event that the prop lock screws slip at all during the adjustment.

With the bar type clamps that I mentioned, the clamping takes about 3 seconds per side.
